This course is an introduction to the fundamental principles of the specialized area of sports analytics. The course briefly covers the background use of statistics to support descriptive statistics and inferential or predictive analytics to solve specific types of sports analytics issues and problems. The course also includes a computer simulation in which each student independently manages the multifaceted activities of a sports franchise. Using the theoretical concepts and the hands-on simulation students learn how using sports analytics may improve the financial and competitive results of various sports and franchise activities.
Prerequisite(s): MAT 150 or ECO 225
