MEC 527 - Social and Cultural Issues in Counseling

This course will examine the nature of crosscultural counseling. Students will be asked to engage in critical self, peer, and systems analysis in terms of counseling in a multicultural context. Topics such as racial identity development, oppression dynamics, various cultural movements in the profession, and counseling techniques most appropriate for specific cultures will be covered.
