Success by Design is Quincy University’s student success approach that brings advising, coaching, academic support, and wellness resources together to support you as a whole person. Rooted in our Catholic-Franciscan values, it connects you to the wider network of support that shapes your experience-career readiness, financial assistance, health and wellness services, and campus ministry for students of all faiths. It’s a personalized plan-and a support team-designed to help you stay on track, stay connected, and graduate prepared for what’s next.

Student Advising

Academic advising at Quincy University is a collaborative, student-centered process designed to help students navigate their educational journey with clarity and confidence. From the beginning of their academic career, all students are assigned a faculty academic advisor who serves as a guide, advocate, and resource throughout their time at QU.

Academic advising is an ongoing and reflective partnership that supports students in developing and achieving their educational, personal, and professional goals. Advisors assist students with course selection, degree requirements, academic planning, major and career exploration, and preparation for graduation. Through individualized educational planning, advisors help students stay on track for timely degree completion, discover their passions, and prepare for life beyond Quincy University.

Academic advising plays a critical role in student persistence, engagement, and success. Advisors work closely with students to make informed decisions about their academic pathways while connecting them to campus resources and opportunities that support their growth and development.

Success Coaches

A Quincy University Success Coach is your dedicated partner throughout your academic journey, helping you navigate college with confidence and purpose. Success Coaches work one-on-one with students to develop personalized success plans, connect you with campus resources, and support your transition into college life. They assist with goal-setting, time management, study strategies, and problem-solving. Most importantly, your Success Coach is your go-to advocate-someone who listens, encourages, and helps you make the most of your QU experience.

The Success Coach Program is located in the J. Kenneth Nesbit Student Success Center (SSC). Following the Success by Design model, success coaches serve as student advocates. The mission of the Success Coach Program is to enhance the student experience at Quincy University. Each undergraduate at Quincy University is assigned a success coach. Your success coach, a reliable point of contact from registration through graduation, provides consistent support to help you achieve your goals.

Is a Success Coach the Same as an Academic Advisor?

Both success coaches and academic advisors are invested in helping students succeed, but their roles are different. Academic advisors play a crucial role in assisting students in exploring their academic interests, finding additional information and support resources, course selection, and crafting study plans that align with their educational objectives. Success coaches help students balance school and life by emphasizing their academic and personal strengths while aiding in overcoming potential challenges.
